Theory: an embargo leak, not AI, explains PHP2Shell exploitation before the patch
Severity 2Status unknownreportedWeb servers and gateways

Amazon saw PHP2Shell attempts on October 17 and says it cannot explain how the actor got exploit details. The Next Web documented that CVE IDs and mitigation advice given to critical infrastructure providers leaked on October 20, a reporting firm briefly posted a working PoC video, and Chainguard published fixed images six hours early. One camp argues a leak from the wide pre-notification circle, not independent AI discovery, drove the early attacks.

What to do: Amazon: unclear how the actor acquired exploit information prior to disclosure.

Why this score

Well-documented leaks after October 20 exist, but they do not explain the October 17 honeypot hits; the source of the early knowledge is still unknown.
