Schwab customer says an account was hijacked, $49,000 of stock sold and a transfer attempted
Severity 3Status unknownrumorFinance

A viral post (2.3 million views) says a relative's Charles Schwab account was used to sell about $49,000 of stock on a Friday and to attempt a transfer to an outside account before Schwab froze the funds on Monday, and that Schwab told him he must have shared his password or been phished. A single customer account; no breach of Schwab's systems has been reported, and Schwab said this month it blocks AI agents that log in with customer passwords.

What to do: Turn on every Schwab alert, use the app approval or a security key for sign-in, and never share the login with any app or agent
