Hackers reset refrigeration controllers at 300+ French supermarkets, spoiling stock
Severity 6MitigatedconfirmedE-commerce and retailConsumer devices

Overnight into October 12 attackers abused old versions of Danfoss refrigeration control software to force defrost cycles and set units to 50 C at roughly 300 Intermarche and Netto stores plus dozens of U and some Leclerc stores. Single stores lost up to 220,000 euros of food; national losses run to millions. ANSSI is working with Danfoss on the flaw.

What to do: Stores restored manually; Danfoss software older than version 4 needs updating.
